The NC 4th of July Festival draws 40,000-50,000 people to the small city of Southport, situated at the mouth of the Cape Fear River a short distance from Oak Island. Visitors can peruse the over 100 arts and crafts on display, pull up a chair to watch the parade or dance to the beat of the Peace and Love band just before the night sky lights up with fireworks.
